The Ferrari Sergio is one of the most exclusive vehicles in the world produced in partnership with Italian design firm Pininfarina. It is a car so limited – so unique – that you have to be invited by Ferrari to buy it. Ferrari is creating only six Sergio’s and they’re estimated to cost millions each.

The Italian luxury automaker has built a world-class name for itself based on its reputation for exclusivity. It caps its production at 7,000 cars per year so as to ensure that the demand for Ferrari’s always outweighs the supply, making the car all the more desirable.

Ferrari has already pre-sold all six vehicles to deep-pocketed die-hard Ferrari fans in the US, Europe and Asia. So if you haven’t received a call from Ferrari yet, you’re out of luck.

Clients who signed on to buy the new Sergio’s have made their commitment to purchase the car even before the design has yet to been finalized..! Ferrari engineers have yet to figure out how to craft the vehicle that is based on the Ferrari 458 Spider, a whimsical concept car that was designed without a windshield and side mirrors. The doors rise up rather than open outwards and the company said the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3.4 seconds. The concept car was on show in London this month. Deliveries of the six Sergios are expected in 2015.

Ferrari has claimed that it will ramp up overall production by 5% this year to meet the dire demand of the public. Although this may be seen as a move that could potentially make Ferrari less exclusive, it is its one-of-a-kind limited production of cars like Sergio that help keep Ferrari exclusive. Along with exclusive cars, Ferrari also offers a “one-off” program where rich car collectors can buy a completely one of a kind Ferrari designed buy the purchasers themselves. Once again, each car designed by the customer costs millions. The “one-off” program is a very exclusive program that has only been utilized by a dozen of these car aficionados since the program launched a few years ago, but it is said that the program is gaining. traction. This traction is noted in there increase in revenue. Even though Ferrari has sold less cars this year then it did last year, revenue is still up 15%.

Famous musician Eric Clapton was one of the few participants in the “one-off” program:

Ferrari has pursued a similar exclusive approach with another car in its range – the LaFerrari Supercar. Only 499 are being made, and after its debut at the Geneva Motor Show last year and over 1,000 people have already requested the car. But similar to the Sergio, you don’t choose the car, Ferrari chooses you.
