Best of NYFW 2016: Veronica Beard

Using their newly opened Madison Avenue store as their stage, the cofounders of Veronica Beard wanted to make the show a memorable event, somewhat of a grand opening of the store and help women fall back in love with brick-and-mortar shopping. Their spring 2017 ready-to-wear collection was classic Americana with a touch of prep, utilizing the upcoming election as their inspiration for the red, blue and white.

veronica-miele-beard-veronica-swanson-beardUsing their newly opened Madison Avenue store as their stage, sisters-in-law Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard allowed renowned San Francisco designer Ken Fulk to turn their basement into a plush, bohemian apartment with leopard print covered walls and pop art for their Spring 2017 ready-to-wear runway show. The cofounders of Veronica Beard wanted to make the show a memorable event, somewhat of a grand opening of the store and help women fall back in love with brick-and-mortar shopping. The two sisters-in-law started their brand back in 2010 with their signature Dickey – part blazer, part hoodie – the perfect American sportswear allowing seamless transition from classic to cool. The brand has now evolved into taking iconic American sportswear staples and transforming them into ready-to-wear collections created for seamless real life transitions.

Their spring 2017 ready-to-wear collection was classic Americana with a touch of prep, utilizing the upcoming election as their inspiration for the red, blue and white. Not necessarily my choice of style for the spring, but perfect for those few occasions out in Connecticut or in the Hamptons.

Zimmermann: Best of NYFW 2016

Ruffles, lace, tulle, layers and prints recall scenes from Proust's À La Recherche du Temps Perdu. Many of Zimmermann's looks featured the off-the-shoulder trend that seems to be very popular throughout New York Fashion Week and will definitely be seen as we make our way to Spring 2017. A perfect balance of light layers, sheer, and long sleeved crop tops make Zimmermann's outfit a perfect addition to everyone's Spring wardrobe.

Modica Is Love: Dolce & Gabbana Inspiration

An evening out in Modica, Sicily, the birth place and inspiration of Dolce & Gabbana. On our way to the renowned restaurant Osteria Dei Sapori Perduti, frequented by all the locals of Modica, we stopped by a picturesque balcony to take pictures of the scenic town at dusk while wearing my Dolce & Gabbana dress, well-suited for the occasion.

Walking Manhattan: From Orchid to Carroll Gardens

Fall is in the air throughout all of Manhattan–a walk down Orchid Street in the East Village, a walk across Manhattan Bridge, a stroll through Brooklyn Heights and Montague Street, and a trip to Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens. Pumpkins, salted caramel, brisk air and warm drinks are just a few things that come to mind as fall approaches! Boots, leather jacket, fur vest and leather gloves are must-haves for cool outdoor walks.

Walking Manhattan, NYC: 57th Street

The best time to walk around New York City in the Fall is 7PM–my walk back home from work. When the sun sets and reflects off of all the skyscrapers in midtown, the sky turns to a subdued hue of purple and pink and all of Midtown's stores light up the streets.
