Let me break it down for you why Alpineve should be your one and only choice when it comes to renting skis in Courmayeur.

Whether you have skis or need to rent skis in Courmayeur, go to Alpineve–and here’s why. Sure, bringing your own skis is convenient. But there’s something about trying a new brand or a new style of skis that might make you realize that you’re actually missing out on a better ride. A pair of new, freshly sharpened Atomic skis, made me realize what smooth carving actually feels like when skiing in Courmayeur.

1. Location

Imagine lugging your heavy skis from your chalet in Courmayeur all the way to the Dolonne or Courmayeur lift and back. It doesn’t sound like much of a hassle, but when you’re staying in a place that’s a 22 minute walk from the lift, it matters. Unless your literally staying in front of a lift, you’re likely going to have to walk for a bit. Alpineve was located at the base of the mountain at Plan Chécrouit, making it the perfect location for a ski rental pick-up without the hassle of having to carry your skis over from any other ski place in town. Just pick up your skis and your immediately onto the slopes.

2. Service

When Pat and I arrived at Alpineve, the place was packed. It was early, but there were people left and right. I immediately dreaded the long wait it would take for us to find our equipment, sign papers etc. Luckily, the line moved extremely fast. The staff was friendly, spoke tons of different languages, and was very fast (which is hard to find in Italy!). Within 10 minutes or less, Pat and I were set up. We had tried on our gear, they took our measurements, adjusted our skis, and showed us to the storage lockers.

3. Quality

I had tried a few skis prior to Courmayeur. But I never said anything about them because none of them ever stuck with me. When I was handed a pair of Atomic skis at Alpineve, I realized what I had been missing out on. The skis made the entire experience. Carving became seamless. The skis were so light and thin, turning was easier than ever, and they were so sharp that I could stop within a moments notice, which was very important for me since I’m not a fan of speed. Because of Alpineve, Atomic became my brand of choice any time I rented skis in Europe.

The fact that Alpineve has excellent equipment is in part due to the fact that it’s prepared by Feliciano, ski instructor and former athlete of the Italian National Team.

4. Storage Lockers

Now this was key for us. If you rent skis in Courmayeur from Alpineve, you get access to their storage locker in the center of Plan Chécrouit. When you’re done skiing you drop your skis off in the rack with lock, put your equipment in the cubicles that have boot and helmet warmers in them, and just show up the next day, put the gear back on, and hit the slopes again right outside the place. It literally cannot get more convenient then that. If you still decide to bring your own skis, they sometimes have availability for you to store your skis and equipment in their storage locker for a daily price. So check out the website and book beforehand!

Renting skis in Courmayeur with Alpineve was one of the easiest, high-quality, good location, and money well spent experiences I’ve had skiing. Now you know why I claimed that Alpineve should be your one and only place to rent skis in Courmayeur. Prices are very reasonable and start at 17€ to 33€ p/day for skis depending on how high-tech you want them, ski boots for 13€ p/day and helmets for 4€ p/day.
