Don’t even think about it. I’ve been there and thought it. I’ve worked events, I’ve planned events, heck – I’ve worked WEDDING events. I am a travel blogger and plan my own trips as well as my client’s trips all the time. Plus, I’m Italian and speak the language!! Why would I need an Italian wedding planner for my destination wedding in my family hometown of Lago Maggiore, Italy? I can do this myself right? Absolutely not. When it came to planning my own wedding, I quickly realized that even the most intrepid souls need a guiding hand. That’s where my Italian wedding planner stepped in, becoming my true savior and allowing me to relish every moment of my special day. And here are 4 reasons why you need an Italian wedding planner for your destination wedding in Italy, on the ground, not in your home country, and why I’m glad I used one:

1. You are not on the ground, they are

The thought of coordinating every intricate detail across borders and cultures initially excited me. I imagined myself as a capable bride juggling every task effortlessly, just like I do when I’m exploring foreign lands. However, I cannot emphasize how much easier it is for someone to be on the ground at the location at Grand Hotel Majestic. Enter my Italian wedding planner, Roberta. One day she would run to see the florist, the other she’d go pick up the wedding gifts, the next she’d scope out the venue for more specific details, meet with the boat vendors etc. She was coordinating everything on the ground so that I wouldn’t have to. She was working on the run-of-show, so I wouldn’t have to. I trusted her to do a good job and she delivered.

2. A wedding planner speaks the language

I mean, luckily, I speak Italian too. I’m from there! But regardless, there are certain very specific wedding terms I am not familiar with, heck even my mom wasn’t. Letting her handle all the minute details from a language perspective made things easier.

3. They will get you the good, local deals

“This price was outrageous so I went to this other vendor.” Or… “I know we had this idea, but this one is better and comes in under budget.” They will be your broker and will help you stay within budget. They will get you the local deals and know who to turn to when it’s not working out.

4. You will not have time to coordinate on your wedding day

As someone who thought that my wedding day would be easy, not to agitated, just an event at the historic and magnificent Grand Hotel Majestic. I was completely wrong. I was super nervous for no reason, super excited, emotions were high…I could not imagine also trying to coordinate all elements of my wedding while doing that. It would not have been enjoyable and I honestly wouldn’t have been able to do it. You want to live in the moment and leave the planning, scheduling, ushering around and more to your planner. Trust me. An Italian wedding planner for your destination wedding in Italy or any other place honestly is not a luxury, it’s a necessity.

I would say the most important thing when choosing an Italian wedding planner for your destination wedding in Italy is that you like their taste and that you trust them. You don’t want to be micromanaging your wedding, you want to be enjoying it. The easiest way to do that is to choose someone, like my Roberta, who has good taste off the bat. No matter what choices she made, I didn’t care because I knew she had an eye for the beautiful.

I, of course, all credit the staff at Grand Hotel Majestic for working alongside Roberta to truly make the wedding weekend a true success. Their exceptional attention to every detail and their paramount dedication, they were almost like guests themselves.

If you’re about to embark on the incredible journey of planning your own wedding in Italy, remember that an Italian wedding planner isn’t just an expense—it’s an investment in your peace of mind, allowing you to be the carefree traveler you are at heart. As I continue to explore the world with my now husband, Patrick, I’ll forever be grateful to my Italian wedding planner Roberta for making our wedding day an unforgettable chapter in our travelogue of life.
