Via Roma is known for it’s ritzy stores and old charm vibe, and of course aperitivo. Here are 6 Courmayeur best bars for aperitivo and après-ski.

After a day hitting the slopes, Via Roma in Courmayeur is packed with people enjoying aperitivo and après-ski. With so many options to choose from, it’s hard to decide where to go, especially if you have a limited number of days. For the sake of “research” (who am I kidding, we just wanted to!) Pat and I did our rounds around town to find out what all the talk was about. Here are 6 Courmayeur best bars for aperitivo and après-ski.

If you want to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the bumping town of Courmayeur, I would recommend you stay just on the outskirts of it in a traditional guesthouse. Many of them are made of tuff or wood, which adds to the charm of staying in a historic European ski town. Maison La Saxe is a perfect example of a property built into the tuff. If you’re looking for a more traditional wooden Chalet, then this may be more your feel. Either way, you are bound to find a unique choice in Courmayeur!

1. Le Dahu [Sponsored by Kia]

Why we chose it: Cute atmosphere and basic offerings

Le Dahu is the first area you come across from the direction of Entrèves. The outside courtyard has a ton of tables with cute white sheep skin and matching red blankets to keep you warm. Space heaters dot the courtyard to keep you warm. Le Dahu has a selection of cocktails that come with aperitivo snacks including chips, nuts, olives, and a variety of meats. It’s food offering is smaller compared to other establishments, but at least you get the quaint outdoor space.

Address: Via Roma, 20, 11013 Courmayeur AO, Italy

2. Grand Hotel Royal e Golf [Sponsored by Audemars Piguet]

Why we chose it: Best outdoor lounge

Grand Hotel Royal e Golf has a lounge area right outside it’s hotel open to the public. It closes at 7PM so make sure to get there earlier if you want aperitivo. The decor is made of wooden chairs and tables covered in sheep skin surrounded by space heaters. The establishment feels similar to Le Dahu except it feels like you’re in a cozy heated sauna because of the wooden furniture and floors. While I was there, the lounge had an Audemars Piguet pop up and was serving fancy champagne behind the bar.

Why is everything sponsored?
You’ll notice that a lot of things are sponsored in Courmayeur. From Bar Le Dahu being sponsored by Kia to the lifts sponsored by Emporio Armani, the speed trackers sponsored by BMW, and lounges sponsored by Audemars Piguet. Since Courmayeur is a ritzy area, there is always something going on from a brand perspective.

3. Cafe Roma

Why we chose it: Aperitivo includes an all you can eat food buffet

Cafe Roma has a real rock star sort of a vibe. It’s packed with young people and has a hip crowd. Bean bag chairs, fancy velvet arm chairs, rock-n-roll music, and an all you can eat buffet which includes mini pizzas, small pasta platters, cheeses, charcuterie, etc. could have you skip dinner. It’s the go-to spot for aperitivo. The aperitivo food up charge is a bit higher than other places, but it’s worth it given the buffet size!

Address: Via Roma, 101, 11013, Courmayeur, Italy

4. Cafè Relais de l’Ange

Why we chose it: Fanciest food offering

Cafè Relais de l’Ange is smaller and quieter than it’s neighboring Cafe Roma and Le Dahu. It’s wine bar offers a large selection and the appetizers are fancy as can be. Think mini quiches, croissants wrapped in meats and cheeses, mini macaroons, chips, sandwiches, and more.

Address: Via Roma, 88, 11013 Courmayeur AO, Italy

5. La Bouche

Why we chose it: Out of center town

La Bouche is located on the farther side of town, past all the other louder more vibrant bars. It’s tucked away behind the one of the first and oldest funivie, or lifts, of Monte Bianco from 1957. La Bouche has a cozy outdoor area and is definitely on the quieter side than the other bars, making it a perfect getaway from the crowds.

Address: Via Regionale, 12, 11013 Courmayeur AO, Italy

6. Oysters and Wine

Why we chose it: Quickest and ritziest grab and go option

There was a stall located outside of Cafè Relais de l’Ange called Oysters and Wine. Now I’m not sure if the stall is in the same location every year, but that’s where it was when I was there. They served exactly that oysters and wine. You can enjoy wine while standing on one of the table tops outside the stall on a cold day, making for an easy and ritzy grab-and-go bite and drink before your next bar hop.
