Le Grain De Sel is my favorite lunch spot in all of St. Barth because it is low key, down to earth, has an amazing variation in food, some of the best Piña Coladas on the island and is reasonably priced.

It’s only obvious that a few yards from the entrance of my favorite beach in St. Barth, Saline Beach, is my favorite lunch spot on the island—Le Grain De Sel, which in English translates to The Grain of Salt. The dining area is open, as are most of the island’s restaurants. Even though the Le Grain De Sel is open-aired, the cave like rocks that engulf the locale give it a cave like chill that cools you down on a hot day. The restaurant is casual and relaxed, especially during lunch when all the Saline Beach beachgoers head over with their beach hair, bathing suits and beach wraps. More on Saline Beach in my article: Best Beach in St. Barth: Anse de Grande Saline.

The tables lookout over the Saline pond adding a touch of rustic vibes to St. Barth. Our favorite drinks to order here at the Piña Coladas. For some reason, I think St. Barth’s Piña Coladas are some of the best in the world. Maybe it’s their house rum? Nothing tasted artificial, all high-quality and fresh.

The lunch menu offered a creative selection of dishes. Like most of the island, it was a high-end fusion of French, Asian and Caribbean cuisine. There is something for everyone at Le Grain De Sel. Case in point, our entire table ordered something different and each plate was DELICIOUS. I ordered my usual go-to at Le Grain de Sel, the goat cheese salad. It’s a generous helping of bold, bright colors and tastes: rich green romaine, ruby red tomatoes, two pieces of melted brie on top of toast drizzled with honey and walnuts.

Pat got the Salade Grain de Sel: romaine, tomatoes, green onions, palm hearsts, fresh fruit (pineapple to specify), and tasty plump grilled shrimp. He dressed the salad with some simple lemon and olive oil.

My Dad got the Thai style fresh tuna noodle salad. Having lived in Asia for 11 years, you can trust me when my Dad says that the noodles were on point. He highly recommends it to all. My Mom got the grilled Mahi-Mahi with Créole sauce, alighter dish with a small side of rice. Just the right platter for the hot humid St. Barth day. Of course, our meals were topped off with their complimentary vanilla house rum. Not my favorite rum, passion fruit still remains at the top, but the rest of my table loved it.

Prices at Le Grain de Sel are very reasonable compared to the rest of St. Barth, and the service is great. Depending on what time of day you go you may encounter a bit of a wait, but it’s worth it. This is my favorite lunch spot in St. Barth, whether you are stopping back from Saline Beach or just looking for a laid back place to eat, Le Grain de Sel is the place for you.
