As we left après ski from Rocky Mountain Underground, we were pulled down Main Street by the mouth-watering aroma of freshly baked cookies. The smell led us straight to the doorstep of the small and locally owned store Mountain Top Cookie Shop. This little hole in the wall was going to satisfy our sweet tooth cravings for the night. There was a small side door. Pat popped his head above the open counter window that read “Cookies,” the smell, shop, and guy who was inside (aka Patrick) made the place inviting.

Mountain Top Cookie Shop offers a diverse array of cookies. It kind of reminded me of Insomnia Cookies. It was late by the time we showed up, so there weren’t as many cookie options as earlier on in the day. You could get standard cookies ($2.75), dipped cookies ($3.50), or cookie sandwiches wit ha choice of cookie dough or frosting in the middle ($4.20). I’m a simple girl so went with the classic, straight-up chocolate chip cookie—no frills, dough, or frosting involved. My party did the same, but the cookie sandwiches did look pretty enticing.

Mountain Top Cookie Shop is open from 10AM to 10PM every day of the week. Just follow the smell of cookies down Main Street, grab a bag to go, and continue exploring the Victorian town of Breck.
