If my articles on the various peaks in Breck and the charm of Breck’s Victorian town still haven’t convinced you to choose Breck as your winter getaway town, then maybe this ongoing list of annual events in Breck might. Make sure to plan your holidays accordingly around these fun and one-of-a-kind festivities unique to Breck.

DECEMBER

  • The Lighting of Breckenridge and Race of Santas: Hundreds of Santas race and watch as Santa uses his magic to light up the Breck for the holiday season
  • Dew Tour: A 4-day event including the world’s best male and female skiers and snowboarders competing in individual Halfpipe and Slopestyle competitions

JANUARY

  • Ullr Fest: Every January the Norse of Snow, or winter god, travels across Breck on his skis, leaving the town covered in snow. Every year, Breck throws a feast for Ullr for good luck in the hopes he will bring snow. This festivity is rich in horned Viking hats, big bonfires, and the Ullr Parade with crazy float participants skiing off jumps on Main Street or gliding along town in a hot tub. It’s a festival you will not want to miss
  • International Snow Sculpture Championship: Of all the annual events in Breck, I was in town for one of the coolest. 16 teams from around the world are given 5 days, or 96 hours, to sculpt a work of art from a 50,000 pound block of ice. The result is a stunning outdoor ice and snow sculpture gallery open to all

APRIL

  • Breck Pride Week: Daily après parties, on mountain guided tours, spring beer festival and LGBT celebrations all week long
  • Breck Spring Beer Festival: Brews, views and free live music—what more could you want?
  • Imperial Challenge: A one-of-a-kind Breck style “triathalon.” Ride your bike 6 miles from the Breckenridge Rec Center to the base of Peak 7 at the Breckenridge Ski Resort. Ascend on your choice of gear to either the top of the T-bar (Sport Course 2500’) or to the top of Peak 8 (Expert Course 3000’)
  • Breck Plunge: A Breck Plunge Pond skim event will help kick-off the extended ski season at the base of Peak 8 with live music, food, drinks and great people!
