The Best Beach Hotel in Dubrovnik: Hotel Bellevue

Hotel Bellevue is the best beach hotel in Dubrovnik. Perched 30m above sea level into a cliff above Miramare Bay, it’s no wonder it’s called bellevue, which literally means beautiful view in French.

Croatia had been on my bucket-list for the last 2 years. But because of layovers, flight times, logistics, timing, and prices, I had to put it off several times. This year, everything aligned and I was able to make my trip to Croatia happen. After a 12 hour flight, which included a layover in Dublin, I landed in Dubrovnik. Patrick had been on his European tour (Budapest + Prague) and was going to land a few hours after me, so I had a couple of hours at our boutique luxury hotel to myself. We were staying at Hotel Bellevue Dubrovnik, just a 10 minute walk outside of Old Town and away from the tourists. Upon entering Hotel Bellevue Dubrovnik, I was immediately taken a back by the sunlight bursting into the lobby from the floor-to-ceiling windows at the end of the lobby, with jaw-dropping views of the Miramare Bay, its beach below, and the Adriatic Sea extending out into the distance. We chose to stay here because Hotel Bellevue is one of the best beach hotels in Dubrovnik (in my opinion). Here’s why…

The Executive Suite…

We were staying in the Executive Suite, which had not 1, but 2 bathrooms with showers and his and her sinks, a private balcony with views of the cove and beach below, lounge area, kitchenette, and comes with a 60 euro room credit to spend at their Wine Bar. Upon arrival the staff brought up a welcome fruit bowl and a letter. I was in desperate need of a shower and some food…It was 1:30PM and I had another hour and a half till Patrick’s arrival. The lounge area had a nautical theme accentuated by touches of old school, black and white nautical photographs. Double doors opened up to the large balcony, also accessible via the double bedroom.

The Master Bedroom and Fluffy Pillows…

The master bedroom had it’s own en-suite bathroom and double doors leading out to the large balcony. I will not lie, upon arrival I was tempted to throw myself onto the soft, light down duvet and pass out amidst the fluffiness of the myriad of pillows on the bed. But this hotel was too beautiful to sleep on and I wanted to take it all in before Pat arrived, so I took a shower to wake myself up instead.

Rain Shower and L’Occitaine Products…

If I had to rank some of the best feelings in the world, taking a long shower after a long and germ-filled flight ranks in my top 3. Hotel Bellevue Dubrovnik’s sleek bathrooms had rain shower heads as well as luxurious L’Occitaine products. After showering and coming back to life, I decided to check out the balcony overlooking Miramare Bay.

Best beach hotel in Dubrovnik…

This was the reason we had chosen to stay at Hotel Bellevue , because it was the best beach hotel in Dubrovnik with stunning views of Miramare Bay below my balcony. Our Executive Suite was perched 30 meters high into the cliff and boasted some of the most spectacular views we would see in Dubrovnik. You know I’m not one to spend my day at a hotel for too long, but Hotel Bellevue was so inviting I couldn’t say no to spending a couple of hours taking in it’s beauty. The pebbly beach below was open to the public and accessible via a winding stone staircase in the distance (although it’s hard to get to if you’re not a guest). If you’re a guest at Hotel Bellevue, all the white umbrellas dotted below are owned by the hotel for you to use and you can easily reach the beach via elevator.

Wellness & Spa Options…

Following a rejuvenating shower, my options were as follows: 1) To go and eat my heart out at one of Hotel Bellevue’s many dining options or 2) Completely unwind post-flight by spending the early afternoon in their Wellness & Spa area that offered Jacuzzi, steam bath, Finnish sauna, oval fresh water pool, hot and cold stone pebble foot treatments, three treatment zones, and more. As much as I was tempted by the numerous spa treatments, my stomach took charge and decided food was the way to go.

The Many Restaurant Options…

At this point I was starving and didn’t want to leave what I deemed to be the best beach hotel in Dubrovnik. Hotel Bellevue Dubrovnik offers a number of different dining options, which makes it even more difficult to leave…Among them is the Michelin Recommended Vapor Restaurant with an outdoor lounge area and seating overlooking Miramare Bay that offers modern cuisine, Spice Lounge, and The Wine Bar where you can enjoy a fancy cheese platter and wine tasting on a sunny afternoon.

The Beach Restaurant…

The fourth dining option is Nevera, Hotel Bellevue Dubrovnik’s beach restaurant located directly on the ground floor on Miramare Bay. This is where I chose to spend my first few waking hours in Dubrovnik. I perused their menu that included fresh seafood, pasta, salads, and more and decided to order something light and fresh given the warm and incredible 75°F weather. I ordered a glass of their white wine to pass the time, after all I had about an hour to kill before Patrick arrived. If this cove like restaurant perched into Miramare Bay with a private swimming area doesn’t make Hotel Bellevue the best beach hotel in Dubrovnik, then I don’t know what does.

Just 10 minutes away from Old Town Dubrovnik…

When Patrick finally got to the hotel, we caught up on his latest adventures in Budapest and Prague and made our way over to Old Town Dubrovnik. Old Town was just a 10-minute coastal side walk from the hotel. Hotel Bellevue also offers shuttle service to and from Old Town, but we didn’t want to skip the incredible views, coves, and hidden beaches on the way there.

Amazing sunrise…

The next morning we had to wake up early to catch our ferry to Korcula, pronounced Kor-chu-la. We woke up early enough to catch the start of the sunrise outside our balcony. We waited as the reception called us a taxi to the ferry. As we waited, we watched the sun continue to rise from the floor-to-ceiling windows in the lobby. The taxi pulled up and we made our way towards the revolving doors, but not without looking back once more to catch that belle vue, or beautiful view, from the best beach hotel in Dubrovnik: Hotel Bellevue. Rooms start at $340+ p/night.
