If you’re looking to start your night off, or end it, with a bang, then make your way into the crazy night life of Temple Street Night Market in Kowloon.

No night is incomplete in Hong Kong without a stop at the famed Temple Street Market. Located near Ladies Market in Kowloon, immerse yourself in the only night market Hong Kong has. The market begins at Jordan Road and goes down for about a mile. Temple Street began in the 1920s as a way for vendors to serve temple-goers, today it is a tourist trap, but a fun one to say the least. It feels like something straight out of the movie the Hangover 2 when they are in Bangkok. You have street peddlers selling you souvenirs and fake goods, prostitutes working on the side of the street, fortune tellers trying to read your fortune, peddlers playing music and singing opera to try and gather a few extra coins before the end of the night…it’s chaotic to say the least, but very entertaining!

A fascinating part of Temple Street Night Market is the fortune telling. Fortune telling is a common Taoist practice. Many don’t know this, but there are many forms of fortune telling and they are all present at Temple Street Night Market. There are palm readers, face readers, tarot card readers, bird fortune tellers and more.

Don’t forget to leave without tasting some of their famous street food! Temple Street Night Market offers some of the best and most unique food Hong Kong has to offer. As previously mentioned, I was obsessed with a place called Bao Dam Tit Yan, right next to Temple Street Night Market. Before heading to our hotel, we stopped by and grabbed my favorite Sesame Ball dessert with sweet bean paste inside. Heaven on earth!
