Far far away from the loud party resorts of Ibiza…on the literally other part of the island in the Saint Eulalia neighborhood is a local favorite beach: Aguas Blancas or Aigües Blanques – which translates to white water. Parking costs about 5 euro and is located at the top of the seaside bluff. As I walked down the dirt road and began to descend the weathered wooden staircase off the seaside cliff, the salty breeze kissed my skin, and the rhythmic sound of crashing waves grew louder with each step. I had an instant flashback to my time walking down the wooden staircase at Mohegan Bluffs on Block Island, Rhode Island. As I peered over the wooden steps, a hidden paradise unveiled itself before my eyes. A pristine golden sand beach – Aguas Blancas – framed by towering cliffs, inviting me to surrender to the serenity of its untouched beauty.

Sveva’s Pick: Sangria at Chiringuito Aguas Blancas
Aguas Blancas is technically labeled a nudist beach, but you will very much see plenty of people with bathing suits. The beach is fairly narrow so it can get crowded in the summer. However, the nudists tend to stick to the side of the beaches, not the center. They want their privacy too after all. The beach is called Aguas Blancas because on a windy day, the waves create very distinct white foam. However, the day Pat and I visit, the wind was non-existent. We had incredibly clear sea as far as the eye can sea perfect for snorkeling. If you’re feeling super adventurous, you can snorkel to the caves and coves on the sides of the beaches. There are also plenty of sun loungers and activities available on the beach. Pat and I just stuck to our towels and what mother nature gave us to entertain ourselves.
TIP:
Head to Aguas Blancas beach in the morning or early afternoon. If you head here after 6PM the sun begins to hide behind the towering cliffs and you’ll just get shade.
If you see people walking around with what looks like gray dirt on their skin, don’t be alarmed. Similar to the medicinal mud from Cala Xarraca, the gray dirt is the clay from the Aguas Blancas cliff. It turns into a paste that exfoliates and purifies the skin and acts as an anti-inflammatory and cellular regenerator. Simultaneously, your body absorbs all the good nutrients from the clay like magnesium, iron, zinc, phosphorous and copper and helps restore your body. AKA – it’s really good for you! Even celebrities spread this good stuff on their body when they’re in Ibiza.
Clay has been used since ancient times because of it’s healing properties. In Italy and at many spas around the world, I’ve used clay before. Through electrical charges, all the toxins, free radicals, heavy metals and chemicals are pulled away from the skin and stick to the clay. For those who have never done something like this, it’s quite simple. Grab some clay and put it on your face and body as a mask. Bake like this for 15-20 minutes until it dries, and then jump into the clear blue sea and wash it off. You’ll come out with soft, healthy and radiant skin.
TIP:
If you decide to try it though DON’T go wear a white or light colored bathing suit. The clay will stain it and it won’t come off. I had to learn that the hard way in Santorini. Because I was wearing a white bathing suit on this day, I avoided the clay, but I had I known, I would’ve worn a darker suit.
When you’re craving some freshly made sangria or some food, visit the super cute rustic beach bar, Chiringuito Aguas Blancas. Chiringuito Aguas Blancas is located on an elevated terrace on the bluffs in the middle of Aguas Blancas beach. The elevation gives you incredible views of the sea and the Sangria is a perfect touch to the evening. It serves snacks like grilled meats and bocadillos. It’s happy hour at 5PM, but without the crazy partyers.
